Clumber Spaniels These are Caroline's love and passion.
Clumber Spaniels have been part of our family since 1991 after a long wait when I collected Sophie just 5 days after Garfield, Sh Ch Raycroft Socialite, won Best in Show at Crufts in 1991.
Elliott our first dog was a gentleman and a wonderful dog to live with and show. We knew we had a special boy when he went Reserve Best Puppy in Show at our first show, Hampshire Gundog Society, at just 6 months and 2 days old. He gained his title in Feb 1995 but my proudest moment was winning Best of Breed at Crufts 2000 from the veteran class. A very special day that I will never forget.
One is never enough and Emily joined us in 1994. Emily loves people and certainly likes to be the center of attention. She has always been consitently placed at shows and even now in Veteran classes we are enjoying ourselves. Emily was Best Veteran in Show at the Clumber Show open show in 2003 where her daughter Georgia went Best in Show.
Emily and Elliott were mated in 1998 to produce my first litter. We were always going to keep one and Georgia was it. Our "sweetpea" is our first homebred champion and everyones friend. She is a joy to live with and never
stops trying to please. Our latest addition is Romeo, an exhuberant young puppy dog, born December 2004. We are grateful to Jenny Langrdige for breeding such a happy outgoing young dog and allowing him to come to live in Ireland with us.
We like to do try new things and with the introduction of the Pets Travel Scheme we were off travelling with dogs. Georgia has taken it all in her stride and we have made many new friends along the way. We have been welcomed at overseas shows and were proud to be at the World Show in Amsterdam in 2002 in what proved to be a wonderful week long holiday with Clumber friends.
We are proud that it is our Georgia who is the first Clumber bitch to win a Group in Ireland and also in the Netherlands.
Although I enjoy showing my dogs I try and do other activities with them. I have worked my dogs but I admit to not being dedicated enough. Instead we do obedience and agility for fun and have enjoyed putting together the "Clumber Cowboys" - a fun agility to music display team! |
